320 fs Pulses from an Ultrafast Laser Inscribed Waveguide Laser Utilizing a Carbon Nanotube Saturable Absorber
We report the generation of sub-picosecond modelocked pulses from an ultrafast laser inscribed Er-doped waveguide laser. 320 fs pulses at a repetition rate of 40 MHz and energy of 31 pJ were facilitated via passive modelocking by a carbon nanotube saturable absorber. متن کاملQ-switched operation of a femtosecond-laser-inscribed Yb:YAG channel waveguide laser using carbon nanotubes.
We demonstrate a diode-pumped femtosecond-laser-inscribed Yb:YAG channel waveguide laser, Q-switched by using single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) near 1029 nm. We used saturable absorber mirrors (SAMs) fabricated by depositing SWCNTs on three different output couplers. Best performance of the 9.3-mm-long ultra-compact Q-switched waveguide laser is obtained with an output coupling transmissi...
متن کاملFusion of Renewable Ring Resonator Lasers and Ultrafast Laser Inscribed Photonic Waveguides
We demonstrated the monolithic integration of reusable and wavelength reconfigurable ring resonator lasers and waveguides of arbitrary shapes to out-couple and guide laser emission on the same fused-silica chip. The ring resonator hosts were patterned by a single-mask standard lithography, whereas the waveguides were inscribed in the proximity of the ring resonator by using 3-dimensional femtos...
متن کاملShaping ultrafast laser inscribed optical waveguides using a deformable mirror.
We use a two-dimensional deformable mirror to shape the spatial profile of an ultrafast laser beam that is then used to inscribe structures in a soda-lime silica glass slide. By doing so we demonstrate that it is possible to control the asymmetry of the cross section of ultrafast laser inscribed optical waveguides via the curvature of the deformable mirror. When tested using 1.55 mum light, the...
متن کاملLaser operation of a Tm:Y2O3 planar waveguide.
We demonstrate the first Tm-doped yttria planar waveguide laser to our knowledge, grown by pulsed laser deposition. A maximum output power of 35 mW at 1.95 μm with 9% slope efficiency was achieved from a 12 μm-thick film grown on a Y(3)Al(5)O(12) substrate.
